SERVICES
NATURAL LANGUAGE PROCESSING & MACHINE LEARNING
I guide you through your NLP/ML project from the beginning to the end, from data acquisition to model evaluation. I advise the best technologies for your business case. I build machine-learning models, prototypes or ready-implemented libraries your data-science project
PREDICTIVE ANALYTICS
A lot of data is available when customers interact with a company, e.g. what they buy, when they buy or where they buy. Learning from this behavior is an important step for a good customer relationship. I help you analyse the data according to scientific standards and provide the results for you in easy-to-understand graphs and visualizations.
BIO
I am a Vienna-based data scientist and software developer with strong background in academia and expertise in natural language processing, text mining, sentiment analysis, and machine learning in general. I am a seasoned Python programmer for both software development and data science, and a passionate Linux user.
After finishing school I started studying computer sciences at the University of Technology in Vienna. Changes in the study plans offered the opportunity to study medical computer sciences, which I immediately took. I finished my Master's with my thesis on "Negation Detection in Clinical Practice Guidelines" (with distinction). This was my first experience with natural language processing. I started working at the department of New Media Technology at MODUL University Vienna and began researching in the field of natural language processing, text mining, and machine learning. My research culminated in my PhD in sentiment analysis (with distinction).
After nearly a decade of working in academia and research, I decided it was time to apply my knowledge in industry. While working as a software developer for a market maker to develop a social media analysis and management tool, I developed the wish to start my own thing. So I became a freelance data scientist and software developer. I offer data exploration, the development of prototypes and the implementation of small- to medium-scale software projects.
EXTERNAL LECTURER
MODUL University Vienna
Teaching has always been one of my passions. Besides my activities as a freelance data scientist I teach multiple courses with a technical background.
SOFTWARE DEVELOPER
BBF-IT GmbH
The development of a system for social media management and analytics was the core focus of my work at BBF-IT GmbH. Besides, I assisted in the planning stage of a machine-learning component for the finance industry.
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, POST-DOC RESEARCHER
MODUL University Vienna
As an assistant professor I conducted research, mostly in the field of natural language processing and semantic technologies, assisted in proposal writing and extensively taught graduate and under-graduate courses.
RESEARCHER AND LECTURER
MODUL University Vienna
I started my academic career as a researcher in sentiment analysis, a sub-area of natural language processing.
